‘A tale without a name’ is a book for young and old. Since its original publication in 1911 it is a much loved book in Greece. It tells the story of a Kingdom without a name that rapidly descends from a place of plenty under a good king to a derelict ruin under his feckless son. One of the children of the bad king decides to stand up for the country. It’s not difficult to connect this book to the events in Greece in the beginning of the 20th century. You will read the book in a simplified edition by Margarita Ioannidou, that was especially made for second language learners.
Penelope Delta (Alexandria 1874 – Athens 1941) is one of the most well known Greek writers of children’s books. She grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, and later moved to Greece and Germany.
