Teacher Training - Taalhuis Amsterdam

Teacher Trainings

Taalhuis Amsterdam is proud to have a diverse and international team which unites experience and expertise from many different backgrounds to one place.

Next to a wide offer of Dutch as a second language (NT2) courses and foreign language courses in nine different languages, our school boasts an active department of teacher training. Since 2013 we’ve welcomed interns and teachers at the beginning of the career who join our school for a few months to observe, learn and practice the art of teaching. Over the past years there have been many teacher trainings and internal projects that focus on honing the key elements in our didactical approach: communicative, interactive and collaborative lessons.

As per January 2026 you can find various modules designed for (aspiring) language teachers. From the basic concepts of second language teaching, to in depth workshops and training on specific topics. Most modules have a cross-linguistic approach and are accessible for teachers of all languages.

What participants say about Taalhuis’ Teacher Trainings:

Hala:

Following the training at Taalhuis Amsterdam has opened my eyes to many aspects of language teaching, such as the role of the teacher and the increasing responsibility of the student as their level progresses. I also learned a great deal about the teaching materials and the interactive ways of engaging students in the learning process. Sharing experiences, teaching modules, and creative ideas during the sessions has further broadened my perspective on language education. I highly recommend this training, as it covers not only in-person lessons but also virtual ones.

Paola:

Francesca was my examiner for the qualification exam to become an Italian teacher abroad. What luck for me! From the very beginning, I appreciated her enthusiasm and our inspiring conversations about teaching methodologies.

After that first meeting, I attended several training courses at Taalhuis Amsterdam, completed observation hours with other teachers, and began a short supervision path with Francesca. Every time, I went home full of ideas and with an irresistible urge to revolutionize my lessons.

My way of teaching has grown immensely, and even now I keep experimenting with the inspiration I gained from them — in short, the revolution goes on!
