Dutch for everyone - Taalhuis Amsterdam

Dutch for everyone

Dutch for everyone

‘Dutch for everyone’  is an accessible introduction to the Dutch language. It is a soft landing in our language school for people who want to learn Dutch, but are not yet sure what type of school/course is the best match for them. In the lessons you will learn basic Dutch skills (level A1) and  for the extra motivated students it provides the option to prepare for one of the more challenging Dutch courses in Taalhuis Amsterdam. In this introductory course there is also extra focus on hów to learn a new language and effectively use study material.

For whom?

The course is meant for students who do not have the means (yet) to pay for a Dutch language course but who are motivated to start learning the language. It is important that you already know how to read and write the Latin alphabet.

How can you join?

The classes take place every Monday from 17:00-18:30 in one of our classrooms at Gerard Doustraat 220. The dates for the upcoming round are: 12/01, 19/01, 26/01, 02/02, 09/02, 16/02, 02/03, 09/03, 16/03, 23/03, 30/03, 13/04

It is possible to join at any moment during the course. You can send us an email to info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl if you are interested in joining this group or call or text the coordinators of this project Una or Emma (+31 6 34048501). You are also welcome to drop by on one of the above dates.

Lessons are free of charge

The lessons are  free of charge. You will need the book Nederlands in Gang (49,50 euro). You can join the first lesson to see if this course is something for you and after this lesson you can decide if you would like to continue. If this is the case, you can buy the book in our café / bookstore on the ground floor of the school*.

*If you cannot pay for the book please let us know and we can provide a free copy.

Why does Taalhuis Amsterdam offer this course?

We believe that learning a language should be accessible to everyone and this is why many students have donated an extra fee to Taalhuis, which has enabled us to  collaborate with ASKV/ Steunpunt Vluchtelingen and De Regenboog and other organisations to provide free spots in our language courses for (undocumented) refugees.

There is a number of people in Amsterdam who cannot easily get access to learning Dutch (for financial or practical reasons) and Taalhuis Amsterdam opened this group to welcome students to our school who do not have the means to join a course otherwise. This introduction course can function as a ‘soft landing’ in our school and prepare you for one of the other levels courses. It is also a place for you to ask questions to our Dutch teachers and meet other Dutch learners.
