Where better to learn a language than in the country where it is spoken? Every other year, Taalhuis travels to Egypt for a special language trip. Dive into the language and culture with us and find out why Egypt is called umm iddunya – mother of the world.
From 10 to 17 April 2027 we will take you on an unforgettable trip to the magic oasis of Siwa, far in the Western desert of Egypt. Away from busy Cairo, you will experience a completely different side of Egypt: silence, vast landscapes, salt lakes, palm trees, and the rich Amazigh (Berber) culture.
During this trip you will have five days of language lessons in the local library. Your teachers will guide you though the Egyptian Arabic dialect (MaSry), focussing on your speaking skills, and enabling you to use the language in real life.
Next to the lessons you get to explore Siwa: drift away in bright blue salt lakes, visit historical sites or discover the market and Siwa’s crafts.
Of course we also prepared various excursions and activities for you that allow you to immerse yourself in the Egyptian culture even more: taste the sweetest dates when we visit a local farm, feel the local craftsmanship in your own hands during a workshop of basket weaving, and soak up the atmosphere, silence, colours and endless horizon of the desert during a one-day excursion.

Language level

The price is €975,-* for the complete language trip including:
15 hours of Egyptian Arabic lessons in a small group, with a focus on speaking.

Fully arranged desert safari in the weekend, where you experience the magic of the desert.
Transfer from Cairo to Siwa in a comfortable minibus with airco (it’s a long but special trip of appr. 10 hours, with a pleasant stop halfway at Marsa Matrouh at the Mediterranean Sea)
