AI is becoming an essential part of modern education. Are you curious about how AI can enhance your language teaching? Whether you’re completely new to AI or already experimenting with digital tools, this workshop offers a practical introduction to the most valuable applications for language teachers.
During this workshop, you will gain a clear overview of the AI tools currently available for teaching, combined with real hands-on experience: exploring one tool in depth and using it to build a small didactic unit that’s ready for the classroom.

The workshop will last 2,5 hours and will be divided in two parts. Firstly, you will learn about the currently available AI tools for education, including Claude, Gemini, Diffit, NotebookLM, Brisk, Wayin Video, and Genially, highlighting what each tool does best. The second part is a hands-on session, during which you will try out some of the tools (Diffit, Gemini (with its Canva integration) and optionally Gemini Storybook) with a task relevant to your own subject and language.
At the end of the workshop, you will reflect together on what worked well and what didn’t, and discuss the use of AI tools in language lessons.

This workshop is for teachers at every stage of their career – those just starting out as well as experienced teachers. No prior experience with AI tools is required. The workshop will be in English, but teachers of all languages are welcome.

Preparation

No preparation is needed beforehand, and there is no homework afterward.

The trainer

Elisabetta Dentico is an Italian teacher at Taalhuis Amsterdam and a PhD candidate in Linguistics at Leiden University. She holds a Master’s in Language and AI, with a more theoretical focus on how AI actually works, and in the last year she has been working hands-on with AI-based teaching tools. As part of her doctoral research, she is studying how large language models (LLMs) can help us better understand language and the learning process, with the goal of supporting didactic methodology.
