Where better to learn Arabic than where it is spoken? This spring, a group of dedicated Taalhuis students travelled to Dahab, Egypt, to immerse themselves in the Egyptian language and culture for a week.
Surrounded by the stunning beauty of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, the students took Egyptian Arabic classes with Taalhuis teachers Farah and Susanne, and practiced their conversational skills with locals while roaming Dahab’s charming markets, enjoying Egypt’s finest foods, and relaxing by the beach.
Of course, the group also went on several excursions to explore this extraordinary part of Egypt – from a boat trip to a farm tour, and from snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea to an evening around the camp fire at the bedouins.
We’d like to thank our students for this fun, inspiring, and unforgettable week! To get a glimpse of our trip, watch the after video below. Want to join us next time? Stay tuned to the Taalhuis trips page for our upcoming language trips!
“I wasn’t sure at first whether to join the language trip to Egypt, especially since I’m learning Levantine Arabic at Taalhuis Amsterdam. But in the end, I went for it. And I’m so happy I did. It really felt like a great way to invest in myself. I picked up lots of new words and even more importantly, I gained a ton of confidence speaking Arabic. It was such a fun and inspiring experience!”
