Come and join our Dutch teacher Elianne on a walk through the Dutch countryside! Only 20 minutes from Amsterdam Central station you can find real farms and cute little villages. During this 14k walk you will learn all about typically Dutch nature words, like ‘schaap’, ‘slootje’ and ‘meerkoet’, and practise your conversation skills about ‘koetjes en kalfjes’ (small talk – all levels!) with fun activities.
In the middle of the walk we’ll have lunch in a real fortress. Did you know you can find fortresses all around Amsterdam? Together they make up the ‘Stelling van Amsterdam’, a 135k long defense line that was built around 1900. We will end our walk in the beautiful little city of Weesp, that is more than 700 years old. You can stay for a drink on one of the terraces or take the train home again.
What you should bring:
– sturdy shoes
– rain clothes
– something to eat (they serve cake, coffee and tea in the fortress)
– a bottle of water
The walk takes place on Saturday 24 September. We start at 11:15 from the train station in Abcoude and finish around 16:00 in Weesp. Your train ticket is not included in the price, but a cup of coffee in the fortress is!
