When life gives you avondklok, become an avondkok!
Join this Lebanese ‘Taalkeuken’ on Saturday 10 April at 17:00 and make Sheikh el Mahshi with Yahia and Hilda! By the end of the lesson you’ll have a delicious Lebanese dish ánd you’ll have learned new Arabic vocabulary!
Sheikh el Mahshi is a popular dish in the Middle East. Yahia and Hilda will give away the secrets of the Lebanese version.
The ingredients you need (for 2 people) are:
– 2 big aubergines
– 1 cup of sunflower oil
– 1 onion
– 200g minced beef (walnuts for the vegetarian version)
– 2 tomatoes
– small can of tomato paste
– 4 cloves of garlic
– 1 table spoon of dried mint
– a few sprigs of parsley
– cinnamon
– salt and pepper
– 1 cup (200g) of basmati rice
– pine nuts for decoration
Make sure to chop the onion and the tomatoes in small pieces before the workshop, to save some time!
