Join our teacher and “cook for one night” Niloufar in our Taalhuis kitchen for a dive into Persian culture and cuisine, and learn how to prepare a traditional Persian meal: loobia polo (a Persian stew of green beans and beef with steamed rice) and mirza ghassemi (a side dish with aubergines seasoned with garlic, tomato, and pepper bound together with eggs).
Both of these dishes are part of the tradition of family dinners in Iran where many people gather to meet and enjoy good traditional food.
During this 2,5 hour workshop, you will get your hands dirty while making your own Persian meal. While you’re on the job, you’ll learn the necessary cooking vocabulary in Farsi and some interesting stories and anecdotes about traditions and regional cuisine.
When the preparations are done, we’ll have a ‘borrel’ and set the table and taste a few starters. And then it’s time to taste this comfort food from Iran and chat about Persian culture, cuisine, and language.
The program:
17:00 – cooking
19:30 – appetiser and setting the table
20:00 – let’s eat!
