If you want to refine your understanding of written and spoken Arabic in media contexts, this is the course for you!
This course aims to elevate your Arabic to a level where you can understand and analyse news articles on topics such as trials, business, finance, and politics. Special attention is given to grammar and reading strategies, including passive constructions, verbal noun structures, and detecting bias in political texts. Vocabulary building and methods for learning new words are key components throughout the course.
This course is intended for intermediate to advanced speakers (B1+ level) of the Levantine (Shaamy) dialect and with a solid foundation in Arabic grammar who want to refresh and expand their skills in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Levantine dialect.
Each session includes:
– 1 hour of reading authentic media texts in MSA
– 1 hour of discussion and argumentation in Shaamy dialect, focusing on comprehension and critical thinking
Texts are read in MSA, but understanding is expressed and debated in Shaamy, bridging formal and spoken Arabic effectively.
