To give undocumented refugees access to Dutch courses, Taalhuis Amsterdam has been working with ASKV (Steunpunt Vluchtelingen) for a couple of years now. With donations from our students and a contribution from Taalhuis itself, we’ve been able to reserve approximately five spots in our courses each semester to welcome undocumented refugees. They don’t have to pay the course fee and get the course book for free.

In the first half of 2021, 26 of our students have made one or more donations to this project. Together donating nearly a thousand euro to Taalhuis! One especially generous donation came from a student who donated a full course fee by herself, in loving memory of her mother, who instilled in her the importance of language and learning. We are very grateful to all contributors!
If you’d also like to contribute, you can transfer a donation (any amount) to our bank account, but you can also check the box ‘extra fee’ when you register for a course on our website and donate 25 euro. As we say in Dutch: “Alle kleine beetjes helpen!”
