Join our teacher and “cook for one night” Dor in our Taalhuis kitchen for a dive into Jewish culture and cuisine, and learn how to prepare a traditional Jewish dinner: Matze ball soup (traditional Jewish dumpling) and latkes (potato and onion fritters).
Both of these dishes are part of the Jewish tradition of family dinners where many people gather to meet and enjoy good traditional food and company. In this workshop, we will cook the vegan versions of these dishes.
During this 2,5 hour workshop, you will get your hands dirty while making your own Jewish meal. While you’re on the job, you’ll learn the necessary cooking vocabulary in Hebrew and some interesting stories and anecdotes about traditional Jewish cuisine.
When the preparations are done, we’ll have a ‘borrel’ and set the table and taste a few starters. Then it’s time to taste this comfort food and chat about Jewish culture, cuisine, and language.
The program:
17:00 – cooking
19:30 – appetiser and setting the table
20:00 – let’s eat!
