Join our teachers and Italian chefs Chiara and Marzia in our Taalhuis kitchen for a dive into Italian culture and cuisine. Learn how to prepare two traditional Italian dishes from two different regions: strichetti from Emilia-Romagna and crostini from Tuscany.
These dishes are part of the tradition of family dinners, where people gather to meet and enjoy good traditional food. Strichetti is a type of egg pasta made with a rolling pin and cut into the shape of a butterfly. It is a very fun pasta to make and very popular at family lunches in Emilia-Romagna as an alternative to the famous tagliatelle. Crostini are one of the thousands of ways Italians honour bread. In fact, bread from previous days is never thrown away but becomes something else: for example, delicious crostini.
During this 2,5 hour workshop, you will get your hands dirty while making your own Italian meal. While you’re on the job, you’ll learn the necessary Italian cooking vocabulary and some interesting stories and anecdotes about traditional Italian and regional cuisine.
When the preparations are done, we’ll have an aperitivo. We’ll set the table and taste a few starters. Then it’s time to taste this Italian comfort food, chatting about Italian culture, cuisine, and language.
