Filiz is trained as a translator with a degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies. She moved to the Netherlands in 2020 with her husband and two cats (kedi in Turkish). In 2022 she followed a training at Bahçeşehir University (Istanbul) to become a Turkish (second) language teacher and joined the Taalhuis team.

She loves that fact that the Turkish language doesn’t have grammatical gender. Her favourite Turkish word is puhu and she loves learning old Ottoman Turkish words.

When Filiz is not doing language related things she she likes watching movies, particularly Scandinavian and Iranian cinema, needle painting, and cooking. She also loves cats and has been volunteering for stray and shelter animals for more than ten years now.
