Basque: About spoken languages

About spoken languages – Basque

Basque is spoken in the Basque Country, which is located in the Spanish-French border area. And yet it is one of the few non-Indo-European languages in Europe. This lecture will be given by Roberto Dagnino, assistant professor of Dutch Language and Culture at the University of Strasbourg, but also a lover (and speaker) of the Basque language. He is currently preparing research into the Basque translations of Anne Frank’s diary and contacts between Basque and Flemish nationalist circles, among other things, and will be talking about the grammar, history and political-identity side of the language.

Speaker: dr. Roberto Dagnino
Moderator: Diederik Burgersdijk/Lieke Rademakers

This lecture is in Dutch, and will take place on 16 June 2023, at Muiderstraat 24. You can register below.

If you’re a (higher education) student, the ticket price is only 5 euros. Register by sending an email to info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl
