About spoken languages – Maltese

Maltese is the only Semitic language that is written in the Latin alphabet. Although the language is strongly related to Maghrebi Arabic its speakers never developed a tradition of using the Arabic alphabet. This and many more features of the language spoken on this island will be discussed during tonights lecture.
