Can you already comfortably express yourself in Egyptian Arabic and talk about topics such as basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography and employment? Would you like to gain more confidence in using the language in everyday contexts?
In this course, you’ll work on your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Egyptian colloquial Arabic in order to communicate effectively with native speakers in a wider range of social situations, with accuracy and fluency. You’ll learn new and more complex grammatical structures such as relative clauses, the use of various verb tenses and idiomatic expressions.
The course has a practical character and you’re expected to actively participate. You’ll practice your communication skills in class with a focus on situations you’ll encounter in everyday society.
In order to participate in this course:
– You need to have finished the book Kalaam Gamiil 1 (or a similar method)
– You need to be able to have simple conversations about familiar topics
– You need to be able to read and write the Arabic alphabet
Homework consists of various assignments to practice the skills speaking, listening, reading and writing.
This course covers chapters 13-16 of Kalaam Gamiil II.
