Would you like to take your Egyptian Arabic to the next level?
This course aims to strengthen and expand your language skills in order for you to become an independent user, who is more comfortable speaking Egyptian Arabic. You will learn to talk about changes and problems in Egypt and society in general with regards to different fields such as work, education, language and traditions. During the course you will mostly use the Arabic script.
The course is very practical in nature and active participation is encouraged and required of the student. While you practice all your language skills during class, special emphasis is put on developing students’ communication and interaction skills to deal with real-life situations.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Talk about societal phenomena and developments
Talk about the Egyptian society
Give details about daily life (personal and professional) using different tenses
Talk about (impossible) scenarios in the past, present and future
Use more slang words
Use more complex sentences and constructions, for example the passive voice and how to indicate conditions and consequences
This course covers chapters 17-20 of ‘Kalaam Gamiil Volume 2’.
Prerequisites:
You can use the present, past and future tense
You are familiar with the Arabic script (including the use of the hamza, madda, shadda and other tashkiil or diacritic symbols)
You are able to write a paragraph in Arabic and read a text on a topic that is familiar to you.
