Would you like to combine learning Dutch with the pleasure of reading a good book?
In this edition of the Dutch book club, you’ll read the graphic novel ‘Vincent’. You will engage with a story that does not only consist of text but also of beautiful illustrations. You will find a great variety of language input – from the novel, the group and the teacher – and together with the students in your class,  you will dive into the different themes and topics the story has to offer. Your homework is to read a few chapters of the book each week (around 30 pages) which, during the lesson, you will discuss. You will be challenged by engaging activities around the theme of the graphic novel, the language and the characters.

This course is suitable for students who have completed B1 level.

‘Vincent’, geschreven en geïllustreerd door striptekenaar Barbara Stok, vertelt het verhaal van de laatste jaren van het leven van schilder Vincent van Gogh. Je reist met Vincent mee naar Frankrijk, waar hij zijn mooiste schilderijen maakt. Het verhaal neemt je ook mee naar een periode waarin hij erg in de war is. In de graphic novel lees je fragmenten uit Vincents brieven aan zijn broer, zie je tekeningen van zijn schilderijen, ontmoet je de mensen die Vincent dierbaar waren en volg je zijn leven van dag tot dag.
