Are you interested in learning a new language? Would you like the opportunity to meet our teachers, learn more about our school and language courses, and experience a free Arabic, Dutch, Farsi, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, or Turkish trial lesson before making a decision? We invite you to join us for our open day and ‘borrel’ on Saturday, 30 August at Gerard Doustraat 220.
Our open day is the perfect opportunity to explore your language learning options at Taalhuis Amsterdam. You can join trial lessons for various Taalhuis languages and attend intake sessions to determine your level and needs before signing up for a course. While the trial lessons take place in our classrooms, you’re welcome to join the ‘borrel’ at our café, where you can enjoy drinks and bites, chat with fellow students and teachers, and take a look at our language-themed merchandise.
Trial lessons and intake sessions are completely free, and you can join as many sessions as you want. Please reserve your spot in advance.

FAQ
How can I register for a trial lesson or an intake?
Please fill in the registration form with the required information. You will receive the confirmation for each session you signed up for via email the week before the open day.
What is a level intake?
A level intake is a short appointment with one of our teachers to decide which course or what type of lessons (private or group) offered at Taalhuis Amsterdam would be the most appropriate for your level and needs. It is not an official level assessment exam; you will not take a comprehensive test or get a certificate.
I am a beginner, do I need an intake?
No, if you are a beginner, your level is A1.1, and you don’t need to do an intake. You can join an A1.1 trial lesson for beginners.
I can’t make it to the open day, when is the next one?
If you cannot make it to our on-location open day, you are very welcome to join us on Tuesday, 2 September, for a virtual learning experience. Check out this page for the online open evening schedule and fill in the registration form to sign up for a trial lesson or an intake.
I am a student at Taalhuis, can I still join?
Of course! The open day is open to everyone, and we’re happy to welcome our students too. If you want to enroll in a course but are not sure about your level, you can do an intake or join trial lessons to get a sneak peek of the course(s) you want to join. You can also just come by to catch up, say hi, and chat with our teachers and other students while you’re enjoying your drinks at our café.
Can I schedule a level intake for another time?
Yes! Please email us at info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl and we will contact you to make an appointment. The intake session will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will be on location or online (via Zoom).
I have another question.
Email us at info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl and we will respond as soon as possible.
