Would you like the opportunity to meet our teachers, learn more about our school and language courses, and experience a free Arabic, Dutch, Farsi, French, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, or Turkish trial lesson before making a decision? We invite you to join us for our open day on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at Gerard Doustraat 220.

During the open day, you’ll have the chance to join trial lessons for various Taalhuis languages and attend intake sessions to determine your level and needs before signing up for a course. It’s a perfect opportunity to explore your language learning options. While trial lessons take place in the classrooms, you can enjoy your drinks and our handmade cakes at the café, browse books in our multilingual library, or explore our Mediterranean market with fair-trade products and books.

Trial lessons and intake sessions are completely free and you can join as many sessions as you want as long as you reserve your spot in advance.

How can I register for a trial lesson or an intake?
We are still working on the open day program, and we will announce it soon. For the time being, you can register below on this page. Once the program is announced, we will email you the registration form.

What is an intake?
An intake is a short appointment with one of our teachers to decide which course or what type of lessons (private or group) would be the most appropriate for your level and needs. Unlike a level assessment, you will not take a comprehensive test or get a certificate.

I am a student at Taalhuis, can I still join?
Of course! The open day is open for everyone and we’re happy to welcome our students too. If you want to enroll in a course but are not sure about your level, you can have an intake or join trial lessons to have a sneak peek of the courses you want to join. You can also just come by to catch up, say hi, and chat with our teachers and other students while you’re enjoying your drinks during our borrel.

Can I schedule a level assessment for another time?
Yes! Please email us at info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl and we will contact you to make an appointment. The intake session will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will be on location or online (via Zoom).
