Our autumn courses for all languages and all levels will start the week of 14 September!
Are you interested in learning a new language? Would you like the opportunity to meet our teachers, learn more about our school and language courses, and experience a free Arabic, Dutch, Farsi, French, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Spanish, or Turkish trial lesson before making a decision? We invite you to join us for our open day and ‘borrel’ on Sunday, 30 August 2026 at Gerard Doustraat 220.
During the open day, you’ll have the chance to join trial lessons for various Taalhuis languages and attend intake sessions to determine your level and needs before signing up for a course. It’s a perfect opportunity to explore your language learning options. While trial lessons take place in the classrooms, you can enjoy your drinks and our handmade cakes at the café, browse books in our multilingual library, or explore our Mediterranean market with fair-trade products and books.
Trial lessons and intake sessions are completely free, and you can join as many sessions as you want as long as you reserve your spot in advance.

FAQ
How can I register for a trial lesson or an intake?
Please fill in the registration form with the required information and select the trial lessons/intake sessions you want to join. The form should be filled in separately for each participant. You will receive the confirmation for each session you signed up for via email the week before the open day.
What is a level intake?
A level intake is a short appointment with one of our teachers to decide which course or what type of lessons (private or group) offered at Taalhuis Amsterdam would be the most suitable for your level and needs. It is not an official level assessment exam; you will not take a comprehensive test or get a certificate.
I am a beginner. Do I need an intake?
No, you don’t need an intake if you’re a beginner. You can join the A1.1 trial lessons for beginners and the ‘All about’ session for your language where you can learn more about our courses and ask questions.
Can I schedule a level intake for another time?
Yes! Please email us at info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl and we will contact you to make an appointment. The intake session will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will be on location or online (via Zoom).
I am a student at Taalhuis, can I still join?
Of course! The open day is open to everyone, and we’re happy to welcome our students too. If you want to enroll in a course but are not sure about your level, you can do an intake or join trial lessons to get a sneak peek at the course(s) you want to join. You can also just come by to catch up, say hi, and chat with our teachers and other students at our café.
What is the meaning of the A/B/C-codes in the course descriptions?
Our course titles are based on the Common European Framework of Reference.
I have another question.
Visit this page or email us at info@taalhuisamsterdam.nl. We will respond as soon as possible.
