“Prrr… ta lie loe!” You might get this as a response when you drop the name ‘Pluk van de Petteflet’ in a group of Dutch people. The book is one of the most beloved Dutch children’s books: imaginative, funny, light but full of parallels to Dutch society at the same time.
It’s written by the praised Dutch author, poet, song writer and ‘Queen of Dutch children’s literature’ Annie M.G. Schmidt. “Never do what your mother tells you to”, is one of her cheeky quotes and you will definitely find this message in ‘Pluk’.
Come and join Willemijn for this Book club and read all about Zaza, the cockroach, Langhors, the weirdly long horse, and Mevrouw Helderder, who keeps everything squeaky clean. Each week, we’ll discuss several chapters, talk about themes from the book and do exercises with new vocabulary.
For this Book club, a B1+ level is required.
